Blank number line, ticks with no numerals
A number line with its marks and none of its numbers: twenty-one ticks for the reader to label. Five copies to an A4 sheet.
What is printed on this sheet
A rule with twenty-one ticks along it and not a numeral in sight. Five copies of that line on A4, 210 mm by 297, with 110 lines drawn in all.
The marks are set at the spacing of a run from 0 to 20 in ones, which is where the twenty-one comes from. Nothing on the sheet announces that, because nothing is printed under the ticks to announce it.
The ticks stay, the numerals go
That is the whole of it, and it deserves saying flatly rather than dressed up: this is the numbered sheet with its numbers taken off, so that whoever holds the pen writes them. The marks are still drawn at exact and equal spacings, so a numeral written on the fourth tick sits where the fourth numeral would have been printed.
Because nothing is printed, there is nothing on the sheet to contradict. What the marks are called is left open, and the line will not argue with the answer. That is the only thing a blank line does that a numbered one cannot, and it is the reason to print this sheet rather than the other.
Turning the numerals back on
The numerals are a setting rather than a property of the file. Switch them on and the same twenty-one marks come back labelled. The first number, the last and the step can all be changed, which changes how many ticks there are; five copies to a sheet is its own setting and can be raised or lowered; and the line can be turned to run down the page.
The rest is what every sheet here offers: paper in A4, Letter, Legal or A5, ink in grey, blue or black, name-and-date lines at the head, and the file as PDF, PNG or SVG, drawn in the browser and sent nowhere.
Print at 100 per cent or Actual size. The measuring bar in the foot margin is drawn 50 mm long and labelled with it; if a Fit to page setting has scaled an A4 sheet onto Letter at 94.1 per cent, that bar measures about 47 mm instead.
