What is printed on this sheet

A number line running 0 to 10 in ones. Eleven ticks, one for each whole number in the range, with the numeral printed at every one of them. Five copies to an A4 sheet of 210 mm by 297, and 60 lines drawn in all.

Zero is on it, with a mark of its own at the left-hand end, and 10 closes the line at the right. Nothing has to be filled in before the sheet is any use: unlike the ruled paper drawn elsewhere on this site, which supplies a spacing and waits for the reader to supply the rest, this one arrives finished.

Eleven marks and nothing else

This is the shortest of the number lines drawn here, and shortness is the entire specification. There is nothing between the whole numbers: no half marks, no fifths, no faint intermediate ticks. Every numeral on the line is a single digit except the last, which is 10, so the labels sit under their marks without crowding.

Five copies come to the sheet, and they are drawn from the same geometry rather than copied by eye, so a strip cut from the bottom of the page matches one cut from the top. One printed page separates into five lines, which is the reason they are drawn together on one sheet rather than one to a page.

If a different range is wanted

The first number, the last number and the step are all set on the page, so the line can be run out to 20 or to 100, or stepped in tens instead of ones, without printing anything first. The numerals can be turned off so that only the ticks remain and the labelling is left to the reader. The copies to a sheet can be raised or lowered, and the line can be turned to run down the page.

Paper is set to A4, Letter, Legal or A5, the ink to grey, blue or black, and name-and-date lines can be put at the head. Files come out as PDF, PNG or SVG, all of them drawn in the browser.

Print at 100 per cent, or at Actual size. A dialogue on Fit to page scales an A4 sheet onto Letter at 94.1 per cent; the measuring bar in the foot margin is drawn 50 mm long and labelled with that length, and reads about 47 mm when the scaling has happened.
